Whole Wheat Bread

Combine and set aside:
1hT
1/4c warm water

Combine:
3c hot water
4c whole wheat flour

Add:
1/2c honey
1/2c powdered soy milk
1/2c oil
1hT salt


Add reserved yeast mixture.

Add approximately 3c white flour, more or less, until dough begins to clean the sides of the bowl.

Knead 10 minutes on floured surface, adding flour as necessary so that dough is not sticky or wet.

Divide into 3 balls and put in greased pan.

Put in a warm place and let rise approximately 40 minutes.

Bake at 325 30-35 minutes until brown.

Remove from oven and turn out onto cooling racks.

Butter tops while hot.

For Elephant Ears:

Reserve one ball and shape into several smaller balls. Stretch small balls into flat rounds. Fry rounds in oil until brown. Serve with butter, powdered sugar, sugar and cinnamon, and/or jelly.
